Steam.

  • The Mark mask was added in PAYDAY 2 as a reference to Mark from Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, which the developers of the game were able to play a very early build of.[1]
  • The Hockey Heat Маски were worn by the main character's crew, most notably the heister McCauley, in the 1995 film Heat. The same character wearing the same mask in the screenshot on the right is likely the inspiration of the Armored Transport DLC splash card as well.
  • The Peter mask is based on the Hotline Miami mask of the same name.
  • The Terminator glasses are a reference to the 1984 film of the same name. They are based on the glasses worn by the eponymous antagonist throughout the film, with the description referencing the Terminator's origin ("an assassin from a distant land", "built like a machine").
  • The Reservoir Dog glasses are named after the 1992 film Reservoir Dogs. The glasses resemble those worn by the main characters, who had indeed all worn the same clothing and had codenames.
  • The Conquest, Death, Famine, and War Маски are all rather obviously based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Dead by Daylight

The Solus Project

  • The Alienware mask is a promotion from a computer hardware company called Alienware, Dell's subsidiary; the mask is the company's mascot, the Alien. It must be found like the rest of the Маски in PAYDAY 2, unlike in PAYDAY: The Heist where it's given exclusively to anyone with an Alienware computer.
  • The Brainiac mask is an homage to Jason Voorhees' look in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday.
  • The Calaca mask is from the Mexican Spanish word Calaca, which is a skull or skeleton commonly used for the Mexican Day of the Dead.
  • The Doctor Crime mask is a homage to Doctor Doom by Marvel Comics.
  • The Greek Tragedy mask is derived from the Маски found in Greek tragedies, a form of theater from Ancient Greece and Asia Minor.
  • The Hockey Mask was worn by the character "Waingro" in the 1995 film, Heat.
  • The Hog mask is a homage to Hotline Miami, a game developed by Dennaton Games.
  • The Jaw mask is likely a reference to Trap Jaw from the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series.
  • Mr. Smooth is based on singer David Bowie, bearing a strong resemblance to the his Ziggy Stardust persona. The Маски' description of merging beings is likely an homage to Bowie's many different characters and personas.
  • The Mummy mask is based on Iron Maiden's mascot Eddie from the Powerslave album.
  • The Oni mask is from Japanese folklore, Oni meaning "demon".
  • The Outlander mask is a reference to I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, a short story by Harlan Ellison, published in March, 1967. It later turned into a point-and-click adventure game in 1995 by The Dreamers Guild. The story was based in a post-apocalyptic future set 109 years into the future after the Cold War escalated into a World War controlled by a Super Computer named AM in which it nearly wiped out the human race in a massive genocide. The mask represents the ending of the protagonist turning into a gelatinous blob creature wanting to scream of the horrors it suffered but cannot due to its lack of a mouth, forever condemned to its thoughts.
  • The Shrunken Head mask is from a practice that includes severing and shrinking a human head that is used for rituals, trophies, or for trade.
  • The Vampire mask is based on the iconic vampire Count Dracula.

  • The Strinch mask and its associated achievement ("Stealing Christmas") are references to the Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!.
    • The piece that is supposed to resemble a nose is has a fleur-de-lis on it, a symbol associated with the PAYDAY Secret ARG.
  • The Krampus mask and its description are references to the mythical Germanic entity of the same name.
  • The Mechanical Santa mask is based on the murderous Robot Santa Claus from Futurama.
  • The Mrs. Claus, Strinch, Mechanical Santa, and Krampus Маски were designed by community members that defeated Almir in the "bull challenge" in Los Angeles.
  • The Tids is a reference to The Stig, a recurring character in the British TV show Top Gear. The helmet is based on a Simpson Diamondback helmet which The Stig wears.
  • Three of the four Маски introduced on the final day of the 2015 CrimeFest are based on internet memes: While the Dawg and No Me Gusta Маски are based on the Doge (and name probably a reference to Yo Dawg) and Me Gusta memes respectively, the Rageface mask is a mix of the LOL, Rage, and Y U NO memes.
    • The Funnyman mask was originally named Baitface, and its original appearance and description was based on the Trollface meme, but the mask's appearance was changed to what it currently is in Update #90, and its name and description were changed later on. No official reason has been given but it's likely because the creator of the Trollface put a copyright on the image.
  • The Rudelf mask is a reference to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and the mask's name is a pun on "Rudolph" and "Elf", and could be interpreted as a pun on "Rude" and "Elf" as well.
  • According to the achievements required to unlock the Greedy the Elf and Rudelf Маски, they were originally named "Christmas Cap" and "Rudolph", respectively.
  • The Paycheck Chains and Paycheck Dallas Маски are based on unlicensed Payday Gang Маски by the Neon Nightlife store, specifically the "Glowing Angry Clown Mask" and "Glowing Clown Mask With American Flag". Curiously, while the store also sells a Wolf mask, it is not available in-game.
  • The Canis Lupus mask's description references the Three Little Pigs fable.

  • The four Маски introduced on Day 3 are, obviously, based on Prohibition-era criminals: Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, Bugs Moran, and Stephanie St. Clair. The designs of the Маски are based on comic books and halftoning.
  • The Dawn Patrol helmet has an Ace of Spades card strapped to it, referencing either the 506th Infantry Regiment and their helmets having a spade painted on the side, and/or the the practice of soldiers leaving ace of spades cards on killed Vietnamese and wearing them on their helmets in the Vietnam War, out of belief that the Vietnamese saw the spade as a symbol of death and bad luck.
  • The Pickle Face mask references Bain's memetic line "Chains is in a pickle!", said upon the heister in question going into bleedout. Clicking on the mask a second time on the Hoxton's Housewarming Party website will even play this line. The mask itself seems to be based on the Squash from the Plants vs. Zombies franchise.
  • The Awkward Seal mask is a reference to the Awkward Moment Seal meme, which is also a Steam emoticon. A large number of players asked for a mask based on it to be put in the game, though, as noted on the announcement site, many of them were only ironically asking for one.
    • Additionally, the mask's textures and other internal asset files all refer to it as "urf" as a probable reference to League of Legends' unofficial mascot of the same name. Alternatively, it's an onomatopoeia of the noise seals make.

  • After the April event was over, the beanie mask descriptions got changed, the original ones below:
    • Black Beanie: Most robbers choose this snug, concealing headwear to help them blend in with the night. Unfortunately it won't do you much good to conceal yourself. Carrying weapons and bags tends to have that effect when up against living security. Matches your suit, though!
    • Green Beanie: A murky green that adds a touch of subtle mystery to your profile. You'll look hip and trendy in front of all your career criminal friends with this beanie. So trendy in fact, that the FBI will appreciate your fondness for their own green uniformed team. Not that it won't stop them firing on you openly anyway!
    • Navy Beanie: Dark, deep, and classy color that isn't quite as edgy as black would be. This fetching number will make you the talk of the town. Things like "SEND IN THE TAZERS!", "THIS IS THE POLICE, COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!", or "DOUBLE TAP TRIPLE TAP!"
    • Red Beanie: This one is either soaked in the blood of your enemies, or was just made with some red woolen material. Honestly it doesn't matter, it is just end up covered in blood with all that cop murder you've been known to dish out. Just wash it after the heist, alright?
  • The April 2018 Маски may be references to Borderlands, as they use a similar outlined and colorful art style as well as using the same name-title format as the Borderlands player characters.

  • The Retro Маски have different names and descriptions than what was provided on the Locke and Load Day 1 page. All of the Маски were prefixed with "Pixel" rather than "Retro", and their website descriptions are below:
    • Pixel Dallas: "A good tactical game is the perfect way to prep before a big heist. Dallas prefers to kick-start his brain with something challenging, where you need to strategically manage units and resources to achieve victory."
    • Pixel Hoxton: "Solving logic puzzles is a great way to unwind after some intense criminal activity. Hoxton likes a game that lets him wrap his head around a problem and figure it out one step at a time with the clues given."
    • Pixel Wolf: "Violent games get Wolf into the mood for a heist. The more blood and carnage the better. He prefers games that test your reactions and speed- games where every second counts toward survival against an endless horde of enemies."
    • Pixel Chains: "Combat games that simulate intense situations between players is a great way to maintain your skills between jobs. Chains likes games that train your situational awareness, where skillful execution of a plan is paramount to gaining the upper hand."

  • The Armored Transport DLC Маски are based on the faces of various United States Presidents. Their names refer to order in which the person of which they are a likeness served as President. It also pays a reference to the crime-thriller film Point Break where that 3 bank robbers infamously known as "The Ex-Presidents" don the Маски of Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and Lyndon B. Johnson. Only the mask of Richard Nixon is in game.

  • Chuck Norris ("Chuck") is a legendary American actor and martial artist. The Crosskill required to unlock the Public Enemies achievement was based on the American-made Colt/Browning M1911.
  • The descriptions of the Маски on the website are separate from those in-game. The website descriptions are also attributed to Gage.
    • Dolph: "This is your typical Rocky Mountain species: very hardy, very thick skull, can eat just about anything that grows. They'll also climb any surface and will run for days. Until you shoot them, of course."
    • Arnold: "Ah, man's best friend! And a particularly beautiful specimen as well. Vlad, you know him, right? He says he prefers dogs to people, because A. they don't talk back, and B. can't shoot for shit."
    • Chuck: "The American Bald Eagle. Represents everything that is righteous, good, and true. Which is ironic, as he - and I quote Mr B. Franklin here - is a bird of bad moral character, who does not earn his living honestly..."
    • Jean-Claude: "Perhaps the most iconic of all endangered species, and the symbol of man's war on nature. If you too wanna shoot one, you gotta act fast because these beauties are about to run out of stock!"

  • The Optimist mask was based on the Transformer Optimus Prime.
    • Its design is also inspired by the Cybermen from the Doctor Who series. They are also referenced in the description. The line, "Or through forced upgrades. Which are compulsory", is referencing the Cybermen's key role in Doctor Who, which is to upgrade all human beings into Cybermen, and they designate the upgrading 'compulsory'.
  • The description of the War Face mask is a reference to a scene in Full Metal Jacket where Sgt. Hartmann says almost the exact same thing to James "Joker" Davis. The third line is different (in the movie, Hartmann says "You don't scare me, work on it!"). The mask itself is a reference to the Zergface meme on 4chan's /k/ board, minus the camouflage face paint.
  • War Face, The Optimist, Metalhead, and Criminal Ambitions were designed by community members that won the Payday 2 Poetry Jam in March of 2014.

    • Sphodromantis: "The MANTIS is a predatory proto-cockroach with two grasping, spiked forelegs ("raptorial legs") which they use to catch and securely hold their prey. Mantids are known for their behavior of severing their victims' head from the body and consuming it first."

    • Tarantula: "The TARANTULA SPIDER belongs to the Theraphosidae family, and is one of the largest living predatory spiders. Because of its size and opportunistic predatory behavior, it is not uncommon for this species to kill and consume a variety of small terrestrial vertebrates using their venomous fangs."

  • The Маски added in the Big Bank DLC are based upon individuals whose faces appear on American currency. All of the Маски are colored and textured in the same way they appear on currency, in monochrome green.
    • The 1st mask is based on George Washington, first President of the United States, who is featured on the one dollar bill.
    • The 16th is based on Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States, who is featured on the five dollar bill.
    • The 18th is based on Ulysses S. Grant, 18th President of the United States, who is featured on the fifty dollar bill.
    • The First American is based on Benjamin Franklin, prominent statesmen and inventor, who is featured on the hundred dollar bill.
  • The Маски' names and descriptions on the website are vastly different from those in-game.
    • The 1st was named Washington and had the following description: "His name may now be a byword for corruption and ineptitude, but Washington was the finest leader in war and peace the world has seen. There's a reason he was unanimously elected the very first President."
    • The 18th was named Grant and had the following description: "The famed General who took Lee's surrender Ullyses(sic) was as magnanimous in victory as he was energetic in governance. He was the driving force of the post-War Reconstruction."
    • The 16th was named Lincoln and had the following description: "Despite leading the US through its greatest crisis - the Civil War - Abe was what politicians should be. The sort of force of temperance and conciliation that is missing from today's nest of crooks."
    • The First American was named Franklin and had the following description: "Columbus may be credited with discovering the America's, but it was Franklin that really *found* America. A statesman, inventor, diplomat, scientist, activist and author - he remains America's da Vinci."

  • The Маски introduced with the Gage Shotgun Pack are references to famous action movie stars and characters, with a touch of "monkey-ness".
    • Clint is an obvious reference to actor Clint Eastwood. This could also be a reference to the Gorillaz song named after the same person, as it features large monkey-like creatures.
    • John is a reference to Bruce Willis's character John McClane from the Die Hard Series. It's description even used a quote from McClane's Wikipedia page.
    • Rutger is a reference to Rutger Hauer who starred a film called "Hobo with a Shotgun" which was mentioned in the description.
    • Steven is a reference to Steven Seagal who starred in the film Under Siege, in which Seagal played as a chef of the military vessel USS Missouri.

    • The Crow Goblin mask is based on the Marvel villain Hobgoblin. It's description is a reference to Marvel's retcon of Hobgoblin's background.

  • The descriptions of Маски added in the Hotline Miami DLC reflect the special ability they grant the player in the Hotline Miami game. (e.g. "Aubrey is a real gun lover." reflects the ability of the Aubrey mask - increasing the number of gun-type weapons.)
  • The description of Graham mentions "hop in a zig-zag pattern, much like many Counter-Strike players do", a reference to the commonly used practice of bunny-hopping in the Counter-Strike games.

Gage Historical Pack

  • The Маски included in the Gage Historical Pack are references to several key figures in the second World War.
    • The Old Blood and Guts mask is a reference to the United States Army General George S. Patton, best known for his colorful, often flashy personal image and hard-driving leadership style that contributed to his success as a commander and victories in the European Theater. The mask's scowl depicts Patton's own "war face", a stern expression he cultivated throughout his career as part of his distinctive personal image.
    • The Constable mask is a reference to the French political leader Charles de Gaulle. Like mentioned in the mask's description, de Gaulle was the leader of France for much of the period between 1940 and 1969, has set up his base in London, proclaimed himself the incarnation of France, and created the Free French movement.
    • The British Bulldog mask is a reference to the English prime minister Winston Churchill. As referenced in the description of the mask, Churchill was a prominent political figure during the time, is a Nobel prize winner, owner of many medals and the first honorary citizen of the United States of America.
      • The term "British Bulldog" is also a nickname of Churchill, following the "animal names" tradition of his family with him being a Bulldog.
    • The Red Bear mask, however, does not seem to refer to any specific individual, but rather a single personification of the entire Soviet Union during the time ("the Big Red Bear", etc...).

The Diamond Heist

They can be returned to your mask stash for free, but any pattern, color or material as well as the customization fee to put these together will be lost.

PAYDAY 2 BundleПравить

Each of these Маски are a reward for owning all the DLC listed to one of these Bundles. They can't drop during a PAYDAY and they can't be sold. Instead, they can be returned to your mask stash for free, but any pattern, color or material as well as the customization fee to put these together will be lost.

  • The Nun mask is likely a reference to the movie The Town, where the protagonists (also bank robbers) wear Nun Маски that the in-game mask is modeled after.
  • The Robo-Arnold mask is a reference to the Terminator film, where the eponymous Terminator is a cyborg played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose half-burnt appearance after he was caught in an explosion is similar to the mask.

The Bomb HeistsПравить

Requires "The Bomb Heists" DLC. These Маски are an achievement reward. They can't drop during a PAYDAY and they can't be sold. Instead, they can be returned to your mask stash for free, but any pattern, color or material as well as the customization fee to put these together will be lost.

  • The Butcher from Hell mask is likely to be a reference to the Scrake enemy from the video game Killing Floor.

Dragan Character PackПравить

Requires the "Dragan Character Pack" DLC. Once you have bought the DLC, you will unlock the Dragan mask in your inventory, but you will have to obtain the Dragan Begins mask via card drops. They can be returned to your mask stash for free, but any pattern, color or material as well as the customization fee to put these together will be lost.

The Butcher's AK/CAR Mod Pack

  • The Маски included in The Butcher's AK/CAR Mod Pack are named after the respective dinosaurs on which they were based, with the sole exception of the Alfred mask which depicts a Carnotaurus.
    • This likely hints at it being originally based on an Allosaurus before being changed to its current state. Coincidentally, the real-life Allosaurus also has bony horn-like ridges on the sides of its skull, though not as pronounced as those of the Carnotaurus.
    • The dinosaur associated with the Vincent mask is identified as a Velociraptor. This is factually incorrect as it is more structurally consistent with the closely-related Deinonychus genus of dinosaurs. The cause of this mistake possibly stemmed from the widespread moniker of said dinosaurs made popular after the release of the Jurassic Park series of movies and books. Like in the movies and books, the developers probably weren't aware of the relatively recent genus name change as the proper scientific term was only coined after the release of the third film in the series; Deinonychii were dubbed Velociraptor antirrhopus before the new name caught on.
      • Like in the movies, Vincent the "Velociraptor" is depicted as being featherless and has scaly skin as opposed to the bird-like feathers on real Velociraptors and Deinonychii.
        • Also incorrect is the depiction of this dinosaur's predation of the Protoceratops. While true Velociraptors indeed preyed on said herbivores, the Deinonychus after which the mask was modeled did not exist within the same period.
