The Akimbo Chimano 88 pistols are a primary weapon available in PAYDAY 2 that was added in Update #61.

Overview

Following the release of the Ambidexterity/Akimbo perk/skill, two Chimano 88 pistols can be dual-wielded in the place of the player's primary weapon, greatly increasing their damage output at the cost of impaired precision aiming, Stability reduction and quite obviously, the lack of damage.

All akimbo weapon modifications cost 40% extra than their normal price.

Summary

Pros:

• Best concealment among all akimbo weapons; with concealment boost it can reach a concealment rating of 31.
• Has reasonably good damage and stability
• Large ammo pool and default magazine size 
• Twin guns provides a higher damage per second and rate-of-fire overall
• Is available early on and is quite cheap

Cons:

• Sub-par accuracy limits effectiveness on long distance
• One trigger pull fires both guns, potentially leading to ammo wastage.
• High attachment cost may put it out of reach of new players
• No sight, aiming only provides a blurry "zoom"
• Takes up the primary slot
• Small attachment pool
• Slow reload
• Puny threat rating

Comparison to Bernetti 9

• Both have same default damage of 38.8 and max modded damage of 40.9
• Bernetti 9's can be modded to have higher accuracy and larger magazine, making it a better choice when pairing secondary shotguns with HE shells.
• Chimano 88 have larger default magazine size, and can use concealment boost for a 31 concealment rating. This allows player to have more choices in secondary, including using the China Puff 40mm while maintaining high dodge ratios and critical chance when using Sneaky Bastard basic and Low Blow basic (detection rating of 6, resulting a +9% dodge and a 27% crit)

Tips

• Head shots are crucial with this weapon, but its stability and accuracy make them relatively easy to achieve.
• Equip laser sights to help with aiming. You will have a very hard time without one equipped.

Unlike the Pocket Laser attachment which is turned on and off via a switch, the Laser Grip in reality is pressure-activated, meaning the laser will only come out when the grip-mounted trigger is pressed. Of course, the laser stays activated in-game for gameplay reasons. The Laser Grip's laser sight is the only laser aiming module that is available at the same time as a Pistol Light attachment. Having an overly aggressive grip on the gun was dangerous, as the jumping slide could painfully snap up the skin between the forefinger and the thumb. Having a little shield like this lets the user hold the grip closer to the center of gravity, diminishing the recoil some. This particular component seems to be from Cytec, a Chinese manufacturer. Despite being modeled after a 33-rounder Glock magazine, the Extended Mag gives neither the Chimano Custom, Chimano 88 nor the STRYK 18c the correct amount of bullets they should have. The closest it could manage is to bring the STRYK's capacity up to 32 rounds, which is still one round short of the proper count. The Cavity 9mm is equipped with this item by default where, for once, it is loaded with the correct amount of ammo. • The Chimano 88 is modeled after the Glock 17.
• On the right side of the gun, there is "#14" written in what appears to be a pink marker or highlighter, indicating it may have been stolen from a police evidence locker.
• The "88" at the end of the name is a reference to the Swedish Armed Forces' designation of the Glock 17 as the Pistol 88.
