The Akimbo Kahn .357 is a primary weapon in PAYDAY 2, available to players who own the McShay Weapon Pack 2.

Overview

Players can opt to dual-wield Kahn .357 revolvers in the primary slot, effectively doubling firepower but practically doubling ammo consumption, though the akimbo variant does carry a relatively high amount of ammo by default, like the Akimbo Frenchman Model 87. However, the solo variant's high ammo pickup also extends to the akimbo variant, retrieving at least 4 rounds per pickup, whereas most other akimbo weapons will only retrieve 2.

Even more intriguingly, the damage boosting Hex Cylinder modification still subtracts only two held rounds from the weapon, effectively leaving the Akimbo Kahn with 14 shots before requiring a reload. Though this is most likely a developer oversight, this means the akimbo variant benefits from the modification more, suffering less of a practical penalty.

All akimbo weapon modifications cost 40% extra than their normal price.

Overview

Pros:

• High damage, tying with guns like the Deagle and White Streak
  • Can be modified for even more damage; akimbo version still only loses 2 total rounds via Hex Cylinder
• Highest ammo pickup rate of all high-power pistols
• High starting accuracy and can easily hit 100 for pinpoint precision
• Good concealment
• Highest default cylinder capacity of all revolvers at 8 rounds
• Higher total ammo than most similar high power akimbo pistols
• Fastest reload speed of all akimbo pistols.

Cons:

• Cylinder modification reduces capacity by 2 and sacrifices accuracy and stability
  • Has no way to increase cylinder capacity further
• Laser gadgets are noticeably offset, which may be misleading when trying to aim at distant enemies
• Above average visual recoil may make it difficult to make rapid followup shots at long range without proper configurations
• Always fires two shots per trigger pull, which may unintentionally waste ammo

Tips

• The Akimbo Kahn .357 has a high ammo pickup rate for its damage, letting it see extended rapid-firing usage while avoiding an ammo bag outside of extremely protracted engagements, as long as the user is adept at retrieving ammo from fallen enemies. This also makes it a good companion for running a secondary OVE9000 saw or a more ammo-starved secondary like the 5/7 AP.
• The Hex Cylinder mod only removes two rounds from the cylinders, as opposed to the expected four. This arguably benefits the akimbo variant benefit more than its secondary counterpart.
• Desperado Ace cuts the Akimbo Kahn's reload time into a more manageable 1.76 seconds. This also means the akimbo version reloads marginally faster than its secondary counterpart.
• Trigger Happy and/or Berserker Ace greatly increases the Kahn's one hit kill capabilities, making it even more ammo efficient and swifter at slaying.
  • With Berserker at 10% health and Underdog Basic active, the Kahn can kill Maximum Force Responders in 1 headshot on any difficulty. With the Hex Cylinder mod, Berserker and Underdog will one-hit said enemies at full Frenzy health. With the Hex Cylinder mod and 10% health plus Berserker, it will achieve the same one-headshot kill threshold without Underdog.
    • Adding Trigger Happy and/or critical hits to the equation will extend the OHK threshold to Tasers and Medics.
• The Kahn is capable of taking an Exclusive Set to increase stability/accuracy with a minimal reduction in concealment. However, if one desires greater accuracy/stability or simply does not care about concealment, the Exclusive Set is outclassed through regular modifications, such as the IPSC Compensator and universal stat boosts.

The point of a pronged flash hider like this is to split the single bright muzzle flash into a wide four-way cross for the shooter's comfort. Not only is it slightly dimmer overall to avoid blinding the shooter in a dark environment, but it also prevents the flash itself from obscuring the target between shots. By this account, it should help with accuracy more than anything. It might appear more intimidating, or possibly alter stability by changing the center of gravity, but it certainly shouldn't alter the speed and thus damage of the weapon it is mounted on.
