The Akimbo STRYK 18c pistols are a primary weapon available in PAYDAY 2 that was added in Update #178.

Overview

STRYK 18c pistols can be dual-wielded in the primary weapon slot for their greatly increased damage output at the cost of precise aiming, stability and the opportunity cost of being unable to use other primaries.

All akimbo weapon modifications cost 40% extra than their normal price.

Summary

Tips

• Holding down the triggers for more than a half-second is not recommended without Gun Nut basic, the Extended Mag., and building up Stability with skills and mods, as otherwise the weapons' magazines will be depleted rapidly with all of its ammunition likely to not hit anything.

Unlike the Pocket Laser attachment which is turned on and off via a switch, the Laser Grip in reality is pressure-activated, meaning the laser will only come out when the grip-mounted trigger is pressed. Of course, the laser stays activated in-game for gameplay reasons. The Laser Grip's laser sight is the only laser aiming module that is available at the same time as a Pistol Light attachment. Having an overly aggressive grip on the gun was dangerous, as the jumping slide could painfully snap up the skin between the forefinger and the thumb. Having a little shield like this lets the user hold the grip closer to the center of gravity, diminishing the recoil some. This particular component seems to be from Cytec, a Chinese manufacturer. Despite being modeled after a 33-rounder Glock magazine, the Extended Mag gives neither the Chimano Custom, Chimano 88 nor the STRYK 18c the correct amount of bullets they should have. The closest it could manage is to bring the STRYK's capacity up to 32 rounds, which is still one round short of the proper count. The Cavity 9mm is equipped with this item by default where, for once, it is loaded with the correct amount of ammo. Trivia

• The STRYK 18c is based on the Glock 18C.
  • The in-game STRYK 18c has an olive drab/tan frame, which is illegal for one such weapon to exist in reality as all marketed fully-automatic Glock models must be finished in matte or anodized black. Colored frames exists for semi-automatic and civilian models only.
  • The STRYK 18c is the only weapon in PAYDAY 2 based on a Glock that doesn't have "Chimano" in the name. This is likely to keep consistency with the first game.
  • The STRYK 18c's recoil is somewhat exaggerated, as the Glock 18, specifically the 18C, has specialized compensated slides to help manage the weapon's muzzle climb.
    • The STRYK 18c wouldn't benefit much from a suppressor in reality. The ported barrel would allow expanding gases to bypass the suppressor.
• Despite being a machine pistol, the STRYK 18c is grouped together with regular handguns by the game.
• "Stryk" is Swedish for "a beating".
• The STRYK 18c is one of the only four non-LMG fully automatic weapon to lack a Custom selective fire function, alongside the Chicago Typewriter, Swedish K, and MP40. The Typewriter and STRYK 18c, however, do have an in-built selector switch which the Swedish K and MP40 lack.
• The Akimbo STRYK 18c pistols may feel as if they are firing faster than the standalone weapon despite the unchanged rate-of-fire. This is due to the fact that the left-handed weapon will always fire immediately after the right-handed one, resulting in a more rapid, if not doubled, series of discharges.
