The Akimbo Signature Submachine Guns are a primary weapon available in PAYDAY 2.

They are a dual-wielded version of Joy's personal submachine gun. Previously a timed exclusive for Nintendo Switch versions of PAYDAY 2, they were added alongside their owner on Day 1 of operation ICEBREAKER on August 13th, 2018.

Overview

Two Signature SMGs can be dual-wielded as the player's primary weapon. This greatly increases their damage output at the cost of impaired precision aiming, Stability reduction and quite obviously, the lack of a more capable primary.

All akimbo weapon modifications cost 40% more than their normal price.

Summary

Pros:

• High total ammo capacity
• Fairly fast reloads
• High potential Concealment with a maximum of 28
• Extended Magazine modification more than doubles magazine capacity to 100, with no penalty
• Tied with the Akimbo Compact-5 for third highest ammo pickup of all Akimbo weapons

Cons:

• Below average per-shot base damage
• Average Accuracy, even with modifications
  • Accuracy-increasing modifications will decrease Concealment considerably
• One trigger pull fires both guns, potentially leading to ammo wastage
• Tied for lowest base Stability in class; significantly lower than similarly-damaging weapons
  • Akimbo's natural Stability reduction causes it to have a base Stability of 8
• Average rate of fire for Akimbo SMGs
• No sight, aiming only provides a nominal zoom, as with all akimbo weapons a laser sight is practically necessary
• Low base magazine capacity
  • The aforementioned Extended Magazine eliminates this issue

UTG LED Weapon light and Laser. Although the main flashlight has a toggle switch, the laser sight component of the LED Combo is pressure-activated, meaning the laser will stay on as long as the pressure switch is depressed. This switch is not placed where it should be, however (on foregrips, magazine wells, etc...) and is instead ziptied to the main taclight, leaving no plausible mean for the user to toggle it without awkwardly moving their off hand off the weapon and gripping the attachment itself. Trivia

• The Akimbo Signature SMGs are based on the generation 2 SIG MPX. Equipping them with the Short Foregrip gives them the look of the semi-automatic MPX-K.
  • Due to both being made by the same company, there is a spoofed SIG Sauer banner on the weapon's magwell that is also seen on the grip panel of the Signature .40.
• The Akimbo Signature SMG and its single variant appeared in the changelog of the Difficulties & Sniper Update (Update #173), over 5 months before they were released into the PC build of the game. In this changelog, they had their damage buffed from 39 to 44.
• The Akimbo Signatures are reloaded off screen.
• The Akimbo Signatures may feel as if they are firing faster than the standalone weapon despite the unchanged rate-of-fire. This is due to the fact that the left-handed weapon will always fire immediately after the right-handed one, resulting in a more rapid, if not doubled, series of discharges.
