The Black Cat heist is a PAYDAY 2 heist released on October 13, 2021, offered by Vlad while Locke provides the mission voiceovers. Vlad requests the crew to get revenge against the Golden Dagger Triad for torturing him in The Ukrainian Prisoner heist. It involves the crew hitting a triad-owned casino ship for a vault full of money in either stealth or in loud, with some help from Jiu Feng.

Route taken if the alarm is never raised.

1. Speak to the informant (only if civilian entrance is chosen)
2. Aquire your gear/inside information from the bathroom.

The next two tasks can be done in any order.
Li Deng

1. Enter the spa area to find Li Deng
2. Search the side rooms for his safe
3. Drill the safe open, or use Li Deng's keys
4. Memorize the code inside the safe

Xun Kang

1. Enter the casino to find Xun Kang
2. Enter the storage closet and plant the bug
3. Find Kang's cabin and acquire the business card
4. Wait for Vlad to lure Kang out
5. Kill or tie Kang and grab his hand

Once both tasks are completed, the route becomes the same.

1. Enter the casino and find the vault
2. Enter the control room and hack the slot machines.
3. Disable the vault lasers
4. Enter the vault code and scan Kang's hand
5. Secure the required amount of cash
6. Either secure the remaining cash or set off an ink bomb
7. Lower a lifeboat
8. Escape!

Route taken if the alarm is raised at any point.

The next two tasks can be done in any order.
Li Deng

1. Enter the spa area
2. Search the side rooms for Deng's safe
3. Drill the safe open
4. Memorize the code inside the safe

Xun Kang

1. Enter the casino to find Xun Kang
2. Shoot the meeting room glass
3. Acquire thermite from the lower deck storage (can be done at any point)
4. Burn the cable hanging the chandelier
5. Kill or tie Kang and grab his hand

Once both tasks are completed, the route becomes the same.

1. Enter the casino and find the vault
2. Begin a hack on the vault security
3. Disable the firewall
4. Finish the hack
5. Enter the vault code and scan Kang's hand
6. Secure the required amount of cash
7. Either secure the remaining cash or burn it with a can of diesel
8. Reach the front of the boat and signal the escape (requires diesel canister)
9. Wait for the escape to arrive
10. Escape!

Route taken if the C4 is detonated at any point before the vault is opened.

1. Acquire the c4 from the lower deck storage
2. Plant four blocks of c4 on the back wall of the vault
3. Set saws on the vault supports
4. Assemble the winch in the courtyard once it is delivered
5. Pull the vault out into the courtyard
6. Destroy the marked snipers & turrets
7. Wait for the helicopter to arrive
8. Secure the magnet to the vault
9. Lower the ladder and wait for the escape to arrive
10. Escape!

Preplanning

Players are given a total of 10 favors to work with in this heist. Most of the preplanning assets are conveniences to heisters, as the spiked drink which will help when dealing with Li Deng and unlocked doors which can make map traversal easier. The entry plan drastically changes how the heist is played, with the stealth entries tasking you with taking on those who wronged Vlad and stealing or destroying the contents of the vault. The loud entry plays out similarly to Panic Room, tasking you with blowing up the walls surrounding the vault, sawing the support beams, and airlifting the vault out of the yacht.

Walkthrough

Depending on the choice of infiltrating the yacht, the heist can begin in the following places:

• Guest cabin (hidden, without equipment)

• Helicopter entry (assault)

• Deck for personnel (covertly, with masks and equipment)

• Stealth Entries
• Heli Entry

After receiving information from the mole, either by having a personal meeting with him or from an abandoned case, you need to find Xun Kang or Li Deng. Xun Kang has a meeting with the triad leader and another member of the triad, while Li Deng spends time at a massage parlor. Xun Kang must be lured out by calling his phone, finding his number in one of the rooms, or melting one of the ropes of the chandelier to break the glass of the negotiation room, and open Li Deng's safe with a drill, or with the key that Li Deng has, however, when the alarm is raised the safe needs to be drilled. Once the prosthesis and vault code are known, the vault itself will have to be found. If the alarm has not been raised, then it is necessary to hack the slot machine system to distract the guards, and then find the shield and cut the wire to turn off the lasers. If there is an assault then you need to find and hack the storage security system, once the hacking stops and you have to turn off the firewall in the meeting room of Xun Kang. After taking away the required number of bags and taking away the rest, or burning it, an escape will become available.

When going loud with the heli entry, you need to find explosives on the personnel deck and blow up the wall behind the vault. Wait for the winch parts, install them, and pull the vault out. In order for Bile to be able to fly up, he will have to kill two snipers and destroy the helicopter turret , after attaching the room to the magnet, wait for Jiu Fong and escape.

Kang's Safe

In the closet of Kang's cabin is a Titan safe locked with a keypad. This safe can not be drilled open in the typical fashion, and requires a code only Kang knows. Once Kang has been lured out from the meeting room, the player must take him as a hostage. Once tied up, the crew must escort Kang back to his cabin, where his safe will unlock once he approaches it. This can be done in both stealth and loud. It can also be done on any difficulty, though the related achievement will not unlock unless playing on overkill difficulty.

Maximise experience

With how the heist is set up, there are multiple different experience totals that the crew can end with. Experience totals can change not only depending on the route taken, but also depending on the order that separate tasks are completed in.

The civilian entrance will always grant an extra 1.5k experience more than both the stealth and loud entrances, despite the crew's intended route.

Players can also get extra experience in loud if they destroy a single money stack when emptying the vault. Each stack nets the crew 500 experience. This totals to 8k experience if every stack is secured. However, the game will award 2k experience if the diesel canister is used inside the vault, regardless of the total cash left in the vault. Therefore, players can gain an additional 1.5k experience if they burn a single stack of money when emptying the vault in loud. This does not apply in stealth.

This table shows the base amount of experience gained per route. This assumes the crew starts in civilian mode, secures all available bags*, and in *loud/C4 only; destroys one cash bundle in the vault.

With the given calculations, a crew will gain the most experience if they first start in civilian mode, do the entire loud route (finding Li Deng first grants an extra 500 exp), and then plant the c4 just before opening the vault. This nets the crew an additional 13k experience on completion. This does almost double the total time the heist takes, which may not be worth while in the long run.

Variations

• The location of Li Deng's safe will vary between two rooms.
• The vault code is always randomized.
• Kang's cabin will always be randomized.
• The smuggler's cabin will always be randomized.

Mayhem+ changes

• All cameras have been replaced with their Titan variant
• A civilian now spawns in one of the guest cabins for each side, as well as the massage room that doesn't contain the safe.
• The civilian in the casino control room is replaced with a triad.

• Land Lubber Pickpoket, First Mate of Thieving, Captain Heister and Master of the Poop Deck all reference pirates.
• Sink the Titanic obviously references the RMS Titanic, a massive cruise ship that was sunk by an iceberg on its maiden voyage.
• Second Star to the Right, then Straight On 'Til Morning are the directions to 'Neverland' that Peter Pan gives in the 1953 Peter Pan Movie.
• For The Mad Hatter is a reference to The Mad Hatter from Lewis Carroll's 1865 book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, who is frozen in time forever stuck at 6pm in an endless tea party. The Hatter tried to sing to the foul-tempered Queen of Hearts who sentenced him to death by decapitation. Father Time retaliated and froze The Mad Hatter in time out of respect for him. The "Laohu Dashi" outfit is a reference to Bruce Lee and his yellow jumpsuit. The name translates to "Tiger Master", referencing the black and yellow colors of the outfit.

Bugs

• Finding Li Deng second does not trigger an XP reward of 4,000 like finding Xun Kang second does in stealth. Similarly the 500 XP reward in loud is also missing
• If a crew member remains in Civilian mode as the alarm goes and the assault starts, they will remain in that state and no enemies will attack them. They are unable to do anything to help with objectives or revive teammates, but they are still able to fetch their gear from the bathrooms, and doing this will instantly mask them up and prompt enemies to start shooting them. This is also possible in Golden Grin Casino.
  • If the Civilian mode crew member is the only player remaining and all others have gone into custody, the heist will not fail, so if this happens it's best to wait until the police retreat.
• If using the civilian entry and a civilian is alerted after a crew member obtains their gear, Jiu Feng's inside man will also be alerted, but he will not initially try to raise the alarm. Until he attempts to, he can he be shouted down and subsequently taken hostage or killed.
