The Comically Large Spoon is a melee weapon available in PAYDAY 2. It was added in Update #205 [1] as a part of an April Fools joke. It becomes available to all players who have reached level 2.
The Comically Large Spoon is an unique melee weapon due to the fact that it would count all of the kills that the community got while using it, and also due to the fact that it evolves into the Comically Large Spoon of Gold after the community reaches 5,000,000 kills with it (the player must also reach 100 kills with this weapon in order to unlock the Comically Large Spoon of Gold).[2]
Overview[]
The Comically Large Spoon shares very similar stats to the Ding Dong Breaching Tool, having the same animations, range and attack rate. The only notable difference is that the Comically Large Spoon deals more damage, has less knockback and also charges faster.
Tips[]
- Due to the Comically Large Spoon's slow attack rate, it does not work with the OVERDOG perk present in Sociopath.
- However, it does work with Infiltrator, since its 5th perk has an unlisted effect which increases the duration of OVERDOG by 6 seconds, up to a maximum of 7 seconds.
- Players deal more damage per second with this weapon by fully charging attacks, rather than attacking as quickly as possible.
- If a player wishes for more damage, it is recommended that they get Berserker, Pumping Iron and Bloodthirst Aced from the Brawler skill tree.
- If a player wishes for more knockdown, use Martial Arts Aced.

Trivia[]
- The Comically Large Spoon was added to the game as a joke likely because a content creator, MarioInATopHat, jokingly mentioned the idea of a Comically Large Spoon being added into the game in a video made by another content creator, TheRussianBadger.[3]
- The Comically Large Spoon is a reference to a Vine from 2013 made by King Bach, where the aforementioned artist pulls off a comically-large sized spoon in response to only being able to have a spoonful of ice cream.[4]
- The Comically Large Spoon is the first (and currently only) melee weapon in the game which has 40 minimum damage and 250 maximum damage.
- The Comically Large Spoon is also the first (and currently only) melee weapon which unlocks another melee weapon after the player (and the community) reach a certain amount of kills with it. [2]
- The Comically Large Spoon is also the first weapon in the game that was added by bullying the developers enough.
- The 5,000,000 kills for the comically large spoon of gold was completed in less than 48 hours according to the content creator that bullied Almir Listo into adding the spoon, TheRussianBadger and his friends that were in the CLOWNS ROBBING BANKS WITH SPOONS | Payday 2 video.[5]
- Comically Large Spoon is not available on console versions of the game.
- The Comically Large Spoon is currently the first meme weapon that players can unlock.
