Diamond District is a free DLC heist added to PAYDAY 3. The heist involves the PAYDAY gang hitting the titular street as per Beckett's contract to steal diamonds from his contact's competitors.

Mission Briefing[]

Heist Selection Screen[]

Beckett's Contractor Dialogue[]

"An associate of mine was stiffed by his competitors on a wholesale diamond deal. Due to the nature of his business practices, he doesn't have any legal recourse. He's looking to settle the score and get back what is his. There are a couple'a stores in the Diamond District he wants you to target. Grab all the ice you can, and you'll get a fair cut of the sales. My associate isn't greedy. Any surplus stones you grab beyond the batch he wants...is yours to sell. Figured it's a win-win! What do you say? It's easy money!"

Overview[]

Due to fierce competition in the titiular Diamond District of Manhattan, Beckett contracts the Payday gang to steal back the jewelry Beckett's associate had lost from rival businesses. As such, the gang is tasked with robbing five stores of their jewelry.

Objectives[]

Stealth[]

  1. Steal and secure jewelry (0%-100%)
  2. Escape
    • Optional: Secure all loot

Loud[]

  1. Steal and secure jewelry (0%-100%)
  2. Set up the loot cage
  3. Escape
    • Optional: Secure all loot

Favors[]

  • Faster Jewelry Scanner: The multi-tag scanner needed to clean the jewelry will scan bags faster.
  • Inside Man: One of the jewelry stores' vaults will be opened.
  • Additional Secure Zone: During stealth, a dumpster near the camera room will become a secure loot zone.
  • Police Van: The escape van is replaced by a stolen police van that will never leave when the heist goes loud.

Walkthrough[]

Stealing the rare stone[]

Like in Dirty Ice, an extremely valuable but optional loot is the rare stone. It spawns in a vault that is potentially located either within the Ashton Fine store (pink store) or the large green store's second floor. Only one of the vault will contain the rare stone, while the other vault will instead contain loose jewelry that can be freely picked up. Both vaults must be unlocked in two different ways (and one alternative way should steath be broken):

  1. In the Ashton Fine store, the vault is located in the private area backroom (which also contains an electrical box that can be turned off to prevent triggering the store's jewelry case alarms). The manager of this branch will always roam this area and the garage, never leaving the store even during loud (unless the QR code lock is opened). To unlock this vault, the manager must be taken as a human shield and forced on the biometric lock, opening the vault and allowing access to the vault. The rare stone is encased in a glass box, which can either be smashed open or cut open.
    • Keep in mind that this vault can still be opened during loud as long as the manager is still alive.
  2. In the large green store, the vault is located in the second floor secure area which is often patrolled by a single guard. To access it, a red keycard must be obtained, either from accessing a QR-locked room containing a civilian (who happens to operate the cameras that oversees both vault rooms) or within a room in the secure area that usually spawns a multi-tag scanner. Unlike the Ashton Fine store, this vault is not encased within a glass box and can be freely taken (as long as you don't get caught on camera or if the lone guard catches you).
    • This vault can never be opened once loud commences, as the red keycard reader is automatically disabled, forcing you to breach the vault via thermite instead.

If stealth is broken, then both vaults can be opened with a thermite bag that spawns in a random location in the map. The thermite takes one minute to break through both vault's locks.

Variations[]

  • The code in the office with two vaults are randomised.
  • The vault containing the rare stone will change between two specific vault locations.

Difficulty Changes/Modifiers[]

  • If the Lead Guard modifier is active, a lead guard will spawn in the large green store. He will exclusively patrol this area and never leaves the main showcase area, making this considerably one of the more preferable modifiers as the Lead Guard stays in one spot.

Trivia[]

  • According to the developers, Diamond District was inspired by PAYDAY 2 heists such as Mallcrasher and Diamond Store.
    • In another interview, the developers have stated that Diamond District is one of the most popular heists in PAYDAY 3 currently.
  • This is one of the few heists in PAYDAY 3 to incorporate unique camera mechanics (outside of the AI Surveillance or Threat Detector modifiers).
    • This is currently the only heist in PAYDAY 3 where one of the camera rooms is occupied by a civilian instead of a guard, similar to how in PAYDAY 2's Election Day heist having a civilian watch over the cameras.
    • This is the third heist in PAYDAY 3 where certain areas of the map have cameras that are controlled by different people, the first being Syntax Error and the second being Houston Breakout.
  • Interestingly, all the cameras (aside from the two vault rooms) all share a single guard, hinting that all four businesses are - in fact - subsidaries of a larger diamond-based company named International Diamond Enterprises (IDE), as hinted in the diamond mining operation map in Dirty Ice. The same map can be seen in one of the jewelry stores.
  • The addition of the Diamond District heist led to the renaming of Legacy Heists to Side Hustle, being added in the same menu as Turbid Station and Cook Off.

Bugs[]

  • (Fixed) Originally, Diamond District's payout was extremely low even with all bags scanned and on Overkill difficulty due to a bug that didn't count majority of the grabbable small jewelry items from all the stores.
  • (Fixed) After the Fear & Greed update, a door in the Ashton Fine branch cannot be opened properly. NPCs were able to phase through this door (albeit with some difficulty).
  • (Fixed) Shade will often speak of bribing an employee to leave one of the two vaults open, even without the Inside Man favor.
