Favors is a mechanic in PAYDAY 3, descending from the original Assets and (partially) the Pre-Planning feature from PAYDAY 2 and a rather noticeable simplification of the previous mechanics.
Usage[]
Rather than a player purchasing all the assets available in a heist or having a more player-driven asset placement map like in pre-planning, a heist is limited to four favors, each one being given by choice to a player during the heist preperation phase. Only one favor can be used per person, and no copy of the same favor can be used by another player. There are no limits to how many favors a player can store in their inventory.
There is little to no variations in where favors spawn in a map on any heist startup (aside from heist-specific difficulty changes or variations), and there is (currently) no way to determine which favor can be placed where.
Favors are split into two categories:
- Generic favors
- Heist-specific favors
When a favor is used, it will be consumed. Restarting a heist will consume the favor.
Generic Favors[]
Generic favors can be purchased from Gage in the Vendors store. These favors are considerably cheap and have no fluctuating prices. There are currently four generic favors in the game:
- Zipline Bag
- Medic Bag
- Armor Bag
- Ammo Bag
Heist-Specific Favors[]
Unlike generic favors, these ones affects a heist on a more notable level, varying from major changes to minor differences. These favors may open new locations for heisters to secure loot, spawn a convenient item needed to progress a heist (such as keycards , QR codes or thermite), create a new spawn location when starting a heist, move civilians, or adds new environmental hazards to the map (such as explosive barrels).
These heist-specific favors can not be bought from Gage. They can only be obtained by random chance from levelling up or gaining a new Renown level (there is also a possibility that some heist-specific favors are rarer than others, though this is unconfirmed).
Trivia[]
- Despite Favors being the PAYDAY 3 replacement for the Assets and Pre-Planning mechanic from PAYDAY 2, the soundtrack "You Know The Drill" and unused in-game files indicate that PAYDAY 3 was intended to inherit the Pre-Planning system, before the system was replaced by Favors.
- Due to this discovery and community demands for Pre-Planning, there is a (minor) chance that Pre-Planning may return.
