Overview[]

The Flashbang Grenade is a non-lethal stun and explosive device that, once thrown, will start a 3-second fuse that will go when it runs out. Upon detonation, it stuns enemies in an area of an 8-meter radius. Once thrown, the Flashbang Grenade can bounce off surfaces. By default, players can carry up to 3 Flashbang Grenades.

Against enemies, the Flashbang Grenade will stun all SWAT and specials except Bulldozers, with Cloakers suffering the most from the effects. When thrown at Shields they will face the direction of the Flashbang Grenade in attempt to block the blast. Standard SWAT stunned by the Flashbang Grenade can be taken as a human shield and used, however they will not act as a hostage and will return to a hostile state once released from being a human-shield. Against civilians, they will become intimidated once flashed and will stay in-place.

The Flashpoint Subtree in the Hacker Tree offers upgrades to the Flashbang Grenade.

Strategies[]

Additionally, Flashbang Grenades can be used as a method of large scale civilian crowd control. Throwing done a single Flashbang Grenade will already cause civilians in the area-of-effect to become intimidated.

Notably, both standard and heavy SWAT can be taken as a human-shield when they are stunned. This allows for a quick human-shield to be used and killed once no longer of use.

Basic (1 Pt): If your Flashbang Grenade hits an enemy before colliding with an object or surface, it will detonate on impact.
Ace (1 Pt): If your Flashbang Grenade detonates on impact with an enemy, the Flashbang's stun duration will last twice as long.

Basic (2 Pt): Enemies affected by your Flashbang Grenades take 10% more damage for every skill equipped in this branch.
Ace (2 Pt): Enemies affected by your Flashbang Grenades will lose half their armor layers. This effect can only happen once per enemy.

Basic (1 Pt): Ammo pickups offer a 2% chance to restore 1 Throwable.
Ace (1 Pt): The chance to restore a throwable from an ammo pickup raises to 5%.

Trivia[]

  • The Flashbang Grenade is based on the M84 Stun Grenade.
  • The visceral reaction from Cloakers when flashbanged can be explained by their night-vision goggles and highly specialized hearing equipment, making them more sensitive to things like the Flashbang Grenade.
    • Cloakers will have a similar reaction when a Nader drops their own flashbang near them.
  • Flashbang Grenades thrown by the players and SWAT have noticeably different affects.
    • Flashbang Grenades thrown by players will not affect their own hearing or vision, but will show a spark particle going off.
    • Flashbang Grenades thrown by SWAT will affect player hearing and vision, while not displaying that same particle effect.
