The Gecko M2 Pistol, custom built for silence. A great choice in Akimbo for the loud heister with an impeccable sense of style, or as a secondary for the silent heister hoping to go unnoticed.

The Gecko M2 pistol is a secondary weapon available in PAYDAY 2. It is available to players who own the Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack 4.

Overview

The Gecko M2 is a unique pistol, being the only non-shotgun weapon in the game to have shotgun push functionality; it will push bodies of shot civilians and guards several meters forward of the gun at close range. This can save Body Bags by pushing corpses out of patrol paths or into safe corners where NPCs and security cameras cannot see them. Additionally, the pistol lacks pellet spread and has more precision with one bullet fired at a time, whereas shotguns may accidentally hit glass, especially when shooting enemies from far away, and potentially fail the heist. Finally, the Gecko M2 is also an integrally suppressed weapon like the Valkyria, permanently silenced, and can always benefit from The Professional and/or Optical Illusions.

The Gecko M2 has a respectable base damage per shot of 100 and magazine size of 17, and high base concealment of 29, though middling accuracy of 64, but it can be improved via barrel extensions. However, unlike most pistols in its damage class, it cannot be modified as extensively, especially altering the amount of shots required to kill specific enemies in loud. Regardless, it is a versatile sidearm that can serve the roles of stealth as a risk-free shotgun and in loud as a backup when the heist goes loud.

Tips

• The Gecko M2 in stealth is the aforementioned replacement for shotguns as it can launch bodies the same distance as shotguns and not risk accidentally breaking glass or causing unintentional kills due to weapon spread when you get detected outside close range. It can still kill tougher guards before sounding the alarm, like Murkywater PMCs or Triad gangsters if they are alerted, as long as the user is quick to react and capable of scoring headshots.
• The Professional and/or Optical Illusions Ace are strongly recommended for the pistol no matter if it is for stealth or loud, greatly increasing its accuracy, stability, and concealment. Together with modifications like the IPSC Compensator and UpShot Barrel, the pistol can trivially reach 100 accuracy and assuming another high concealment primary is taken, maintain the minimum detection risk of 3 for the user.
• The Facepunch Compensator and Flash Hider are the only modifications that increases its damage, but doing so hurts its already poor base accuracy and will not reduce the number of shots needed to kill enemies, thus not recommended.
• The Gecko M2 can combo with the Adhesive Grenade, using its shotgun push functionality to launch bomb-rigged corpses into other enemies. Keep in mind the gun(and all shotguns) can only push bodies if the killing blow is at close range.

The point of a pronged flash hider like this is to split the single bright muzzle flash into a wide four-way cross for the shooter's comfort. Not only is it slightly dimmer overall to avoid blinding the shooter in a dark environment, but it also prevents the flash itself from obscuring the target between shots. By this account, it should help with accuracy more than anything. It might appear more intimidating, or possibly alter stability by changing the center of gravity, but it certainly shouldn't alter the speed and thus damage of the weapon it is mounted on. • Gecko M2 is the second gun to be integrally suppressed in Payday 2 by default, after the Valkyria.
• The gun is based on the Silencer Co. Maxim 9.
• The Gecko M2 is, so far, one of the only three sidearms in the series, aside from the B9-S and Interceptor .45, to be able to accept both a silencer and a recoil compensator at the same time.
