Description
If you are looking for some 80’s action, then you are actually looking at it right now. Really, you say? That’s a phone. Make no mistake - this is not just any phone. This is the HOTLINE 8000X. The height of communication in the 80´s. Now this isn’t for phoning anymore, it’s for fighting. 80’s calling. Hello, who’s there? I just called to say.. I hate you.

The Hotline 8000X is a melee weapon available in PAYDAY 2, added as part of the Scarface Heist Pack.

Overview[]

The Hotline 8000X is an old-school "brick" phone weaponized in the hands of the player gang.

Despite its meager damage and knockdown even when charged, the Hotline makes up for this by its perfect Concealment, allowing it to be used with low-DR stealth or Dodge builds.

Tips[]

  • Players deal more damage per second with this weapon by charging attacks fully, rather than attacking as quickly as possible.
  • If a player wishes for more damage, it is recommended that they get Berserker, Pumping Iron and Bloodthirst Aced from the Brawler skill tree.
  • If a player wishes for more knockdown, use Martial Arts Aced.

Trivia[]

  • The Hotline 8000X was based on the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X.
    • The Hotline is a rather unusual and impractical choice of weapon considering its real-world equivalent had a notably fragile whip antenna that was prone to deformation and breakage even from the slightest of contact with any hard surface. Had it been depicted realistically, the Hotline's antenna would have snapped off after the third or so charged attack.
  • The Hotline 8000X's description bears a reference to the 1984 song I Just Called to Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder.
  • A short dial tone can be heard when striking the Hotline against an enemy or hard surface. Likewise, charging an attack causes a series of beeps to play as the player character's fingers squeeze in on them.
    • The red LED screen does not change as said numpads are dialed, however.
