Lock N' Load |
Technician: Oppressor | Tier 3 |
---|---|---|
Basic (3 pt): You can now hip-fire with your weapons while sprinting. | ||
Ace (6 pt): Killing 2 enemies with SMGs, LMGs, Assault Rifles or Special Weapons set on automatic fire mode will increase your next reload speed by up to 100%. This bonus is reduced by 1% for each bullet above 20 in the total magazine size, down to a minimum of 40% reload speed increase. |
Mechanics[]
The Basic version of this skill will allow you to fire all your weapons while sprinting, while the Aced version lets you reduce the time of your next reload with full auto weapons.
However, switching to another weapon will cancel the reload speed buff provided by the Aced version of the skill.
Strategy[]
The basic skill of Lock N' Load should be paired with Fire Control and Steady Grip, due to a sharp decrease in accuracy. It is favored by players who constantly move and if cover is not available.
The aced version goes well with full auto weapons with no speed pull magazines or very lengthy reload times like the Clarion, Gecko, LMGs and Special Weapons. With Surefire basic, majority of assault rifle would have an average increase of 75% reload speed. LMGs and Specials Weapons benefit less but it is still better than nothing as it's an increase of 40% reload speed.
Since the aced skill favors automatic weapons that have 20 bullets or less, it can be valued by Dodge players that have applied magazine mods to increase concealment and reduce ammo, like the Vintage Mag.
Trivia[]
- Despite the skill icon depicting a heister firing a shotgun, Lock N' Load is of the Technician tree, which does not solely benefit shotguns. As a matter of fact, shotguns would receive little to no benefit from it at all apart from the ability to hipfire them on the run, but this is also granted by the basic version of Close By.
- As of Update 240.5, the aced version of this skill is misleading since all weapon classes which are capable of full auto benefit from the reload speed buff.
- Oddly, heisters may not even need to kill enemies with a given weapon to receive the benefit. As long as two kills are made without switching weapons (meleeing and throwing grenades don't count as switching) or reloading, the aced version of the skill will be activated. This means that one may activate the aced version of the skill with an empty magazine by e.g. killing two enemies with grenades or melee and the weapon they're holding will receive the reload speed buff.
- Even more strangely, bows (but not crossbows or the Airbow) can also benefit from the aced version of this skill, as long as two kills are made while holding the weapon without reloading. The Plainsrider Bow can even trigger the skill by rapidly killing two enemies with a reload between two arrows fired.
