The Mosconi 12G Tactical is a primary weapon in PAYDAY 2. It is available to players who own the Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack.

Despite its name, it has nothing in common with the "regular" Mosconi 12G.

Overview[]

The Mosconi 12G Tactical draws much of it's comparison to the Reinfeld 880 and Reinfeld 88, being a strong, all-rounder primary shotgun. Statistically, it more closely resembles a primary version of the Locomotive 12G shotgun secondary with the stronger rate of fire, ammo count, and fast reload time similarities. However, the Mosconi 12G Tactical comes with more damage per shot and slightly higher potential magazine capacity, along with its own unique mods like a minimal-penalty suppressor.

Compared to its primary brethren, it too is effectively a direct upgrade to the Reinfeld 880 with superior damage and rate of fire, while its closest competitor is the Reinfeld 88. While both guns have the ability to kill Maximum Force Responders with a single headshot, even on Death Wish or Death Sentence, the Mosconi 12G Tactical generally requires more investment to do so than the Reinfeld 88, due to the Mosconi 12G Tactical's comparatively lower damage. However, if the investment is made to get enough damage, its superior rate of fire can potentially clear crowds faster, with the bonuses of a bigger ammo reserve and faster reload.

Regardless of its competition, the Mosconi 12G still fares as a competent pump-action primary shotgun.

Summary[]

Pros:

  • High damage
  • Unique CE Muffler modification does not reduce damage and has a negligible concealment penalty on top of reducing accuracy
  • Accepts all the same grips that the Reinfeld 880 has access to
  • Good ammo pickup + ammo pool
  • High fire rate and fast reload speed, similar to the Locomotive's

Cons:

  • Can burn through it's ammo fast if not careful
  • Limited modification options
  • Slow weapon draw/holster
  • Very few concealment increasing modifications

Compared to the Reinfeld 88:

  • Lower damage per shot
  • Benefits less from Berserker without supplementary skills
  • Faster fire rate
  • Same potential concealment
  • Same potential low accuracy
  • Cheaper to buy and unlocked earlier
  • More ammo
  • Faster reload

Tips[]

  • As with most shotguns, focus on reducing accuracy to ensure you hit as many targets possible.
  • Aced Shotgun CQB reduces the full-reload duration down to 2.5 seconds, practically eliminating almost all downtime for it as long as it has ammo.
  • Bring a secondary that can make up for the Mosconi 12G Tactical's poor ranged performance and fast ammo consumption.
  • The Mosconi 12G Tactical is capable of reaching a max concealment of 23 with the CE Muffler&Optical Illusions Aced, Concealment Boost and Straight Grip or Titanium Skeleton Grip.
  • Like the Reinfeld 88, the Mosconi 12G Tactical can also benefit from Berserker + Frenzy, dealing enough damage to kill Maximum Force Responders in one hit with using 000 Buckshot. However, for this to reliably work without being in Swan Song or bleedout, it is strongly recommended to have Aced Shotgun Impact and remain at 10% health or less, the same health when revived on Mayhem or higher by someone without Aced Combat Medic. The guaranteed 15% extra damage will allow it to match the Reinfeld 88's one-hit-kill potential at low health, in addition to having more ammo, a faster fire rate, and a quicker reload.
    • Alternatively, Aced Shotgun Impact with 000 Buckshot and Overkill can also meet the one hit kill threshold without needing to be at low health.
      • Specializing in as much damage as possible with Aced Berserker, Aced Shotgun Impact, and Overkill while at Mayhem or higher difficulty revival health technically also allows the Mosconi 12G Tactical to kill Medics and Tasers in one hit, just like the Reinfeld 88 with the same criteria. Note that this requires a large amount of skill points to pull off, and it also requires a Shark Teeth Nozzle attachment for the last amount of damage needed, meaning its suppressor cannot be used for this unless even less health is retained.
