Violet Spencer, better known as Pearl, is an American con artist and Grifter from New York. She is the sixth playable heister in PAYDAY 3 and was released alongside Joy at launch.
In PAYDAY 3, she is voiced by Rebecca LaChance.
Background[]
Pearl was born in Downtown New York and grew up in The Bronx. While growing up, Pearl's upbringing was marked by parental neglect and tragedy, as her mother passed away from bone cancer when she was 12, leading to her father becoming a heavy alcoholic. Pearl and her (unnamed) parents had initially lived in a more comfortable situation in the Financial District on Pearl Street. But due to the large amount of accumulated medical debt, Pearl and her father were forced to relocate into low-rent housing project in Hunts Point, up north in The Bronx.
Her father's growing alcoholism led to Pearl having her earliest encounters with the police, facing counts of vandalism, shoplifting, and aggressive behavior. Her grifter behavior can be observed early on, as one Child Protect Services (CPS) report in the Dragan Files ARG reveal she had forged signatures and grades for other students in exchange for payment. It was at this point Pearl gained her nickname, named after the street she grew up in. Due to her father's neglect, Pearl became responsible for various household needs and eventually engaged in underaged drinking, being found intoxicated herself on multiple occasions. Pearl was eventually taken away from her father by CPS.
After an undisclosed amount of time, Pearl became a career criminal and was involved in a gang, but unfortunately, she and her crew were betrayed and her whole team was wiped out overnight. One associate of Pearl, Morris "Tank" Parker, was found dead. She allegedly pulled a ten-million-dollar hustle on Harvest & Trustee as well. Presumably, she met Shade soon afterwards, as the NYPD would report her as missing, with Shade introducing her to the remaining members of the Payday gang as a new addition.
PAYDAY 3[]
After meeting the gang, Pearl and Joy meets up with Shayu for a job hitting a GenSec transport on Queensboro Bridge. She later meets some of the Payday gang's previous contractors, such as Blaine Keegan, and is involved in various heists, particularly in raiding an ex-Murkywater mercenary's penthouse. Later, she was involved in a heist to steal drone data from Scry Digital, a technology company, and took part in ruining the Palatucci Family's finances by raiding a warehouse they owned.
Trivia[]
- Pearl is most likely designed around the Grifter perk line, as she is known for being a con artist prior to joining the Payday gang.
- Due to being the latest addition to the Payday gang, Pearl has no idea about any of the connections the gang had made in PAYDAY 2, as shown in her being initially doubtful of Shayu's honesty prior to the Road Rage heist and not knowing who Blaine Keegan was.
- Although Pearl had a relatively major presence throughout the initial heists added to PAYDAY 3, her appearances after the Syntax Error heist diminished greatly.
- Her latest appearance was in the key art for PAYDAY 3's second anniversary.
- Her lack of appearance has also been a subject of controversy among the community[1].
- Pearl is currently the first and only new addition to the Payday gang unique to PAYDAY 3.
- Her 3D model was designed by Starbreeze character artist Daria Barteneva[2].
- In the ArtStation page, there appears to be an untextured earlier concept model for Pearl that depicted her with a scarf, pearl necklace and a different face.
