Walkthrough[]

At the beginning of the heist, the crew will be informed that their diversion had worked and Shade will tell them to set up an ambush for the armored truck. The heisters will have around 90 seconds to secure the civilians and set up an EMP to disable the transport; if this is not done, the driver will either divert his course upon being alerted by a civilian, or will simply reverse out of the ambush since the EMP wasn't activated, resulting in the heist ending in failure. There are two ways to breach the truck once the EMP has gone off.

The first method is through hacking the back of the transport. This is up to random chance after the EMP goes off. Once the device is placed, it will run and may be interrupted occasionally. Once opened, the transport can be looted.

The other method is when the crew then has to place the remote steering device onto the truck, and will be informed about its location if it wasn't retrieved earlier. After planting it onto the vehicle, activating it, and waiting for around 30 seconds for the hack to bypass the vehicle's security measures, the crew has to escort the transport to a ramp at the end of the construction site to expose the undercarriage. At least one heister has to stay close to the truck in order to maintain the hack's connection and keep it moving. There will be potholes along the truck's path that will have to be covered up with two wheel ramps each; otherwise, the transport can't proceed forward. This can be done early on in the heist before the truck has arrived.

Now that the truck is escorted on top of the ramp, the heisters have to drill the electronics hatch at the bottom of the vehicle, a process that takes around 30 seconds to do. The crew then has to override the electronics to open the truck's rear doors and access the rare-earth elements, which are behind locked boxes that they have to lockpick to loot.

After a sufficient amount of rare-earth elements are bagged, the heisters will have to signal Bile to haul the loot out of the area using a flare, and the crew have to defend themselves from the police for around 90 seconds until he arrives. Shade will inform the crew that Bile will arrive on either the north-side of the bridge, which has the two big buildings in the distance, or the south-side of the bridge, which has the two big chimneys where the snipers spawn at.

After the minimum amount of rare elements are tossed into the helicopter, the police will unleash a Final Charge on the crew and will never let up. Shade will tell the heisters to get out of the area by moving down along the bridge towards a section of scaffolding, where they will have to cut a section barred off with a net and some caution tape in order to proceed. Upon descending a couple flights of stairs, Shade will tell the crew to grab ropes and harnesses to repel down to the ground, leading to them escaping and the heist ending.

All 10 bags will spawn inside the transport. There 6 bags of the rare elements, and 4 large cash piles.

Variations[]

  • The route the truck takes will alternate between two paths: a gated path, and a path with two potholes that needs to be bridged.
  • The four grates needed to be placed over the potholes on the right-sided path will spawn in random locations and in pairs of two.
  • The electrical box to force open the gate will spawn in different locations.
  • Either the north or south side of the bridge is where Bile will secure the loot.
  • The location of the crate that contains the remote steering device.
  • Which lockboxes contain loot.

Trivia[]

  • In a similar vein to No Rest For The Wicked, Shayu's narration during the mission briefing has gained some level of infamy among the PAYDAY community due to the way she enunciates the word 'money' ("Earn some MAHN-NEE?").
  • Similar to the Transport heists in PAYDAY 2, the Payday gang are involved in hitting a GenSec transport.
    • Unlike those heists, the GenSec armored transport in Road Rage is stated to have a SWAT escort that had to be distracted to isolate the GenSec truck, and that drilling the transport doors would take too long, instead resorting to cutting the car's electronics beneath the engine to access the cargo.
    • The interior of the GenSec truck has also changed; instead of one shelf of lockboxes containing loot, there are two shelves, with the passenger seat removed to make way for more transported goods.
  • Road Rage as a heist is structured similarly to PAYDAY 2's iteration of Green Bridge, being a linear heist taking place on a bridge and having the ability to secure (optional) loot in a garbage chute.
  • This was the PAYDAY 3 development team's least favorite heist, as they considered it too linear.
  • The setting is based on the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. More specially the upper level of the bridge.
    • Despite what Shade says, the "two big buildings" (the Graduate by Hilton, and the House of Cornell Tech) would actually be south of Queensboro Bridge. Thus also making the steam chimneys wrong, and instead on the north side.
