Description
An automated ally for shootouts. The singularity's coming, so enjoy friendly robots while you can!

The Sentry Turret is a deployable in PAYDAY 3.

Overview[]

The sentry is an automated weapon that fires upon any enemies that enter its range. It will not target the crew or hostages, and is not capable of harming either with its bullets. Unlike PAYDAY 2, sentries do not require ammo, and instead are based on internal heat. As the sentry fires and takes damage, it will build up heat. Once the sentry's heat threshold has been reached, it will overheat and need to be reset to function again. Players can tell how damaged a sentry is by the amount of smoke coming from it. The sentry gun will target the first enemy to enter its range and will not switch targets until its current target is dead or no longer near it.

Upgrades[]

Engineer

Engineer
Engineer: Tier 1 Base Skill
Basic: Unlocking this skill gives you access to the Sentry Turret equipment. This turret can be equipped in the equipment slot of your loadout.

The turret will shoot any non-mechanical enemies it sees until the enemies are dead or no longer within sight. As it shoots, it will build up heat until it reaches max heat. Once the sentry is at max heat, it will stop functioning. The owner of the turret can pick up the turret at any point to reset the heat to 0 and redeploy it.

Equipping this skill increases the max heat build-up of your turret by 20%.
Ace: Increase the max heat build-up of your sentry turret by another 20%.
AP Turret

AP Turret
Engineer: Tier 2 500 experience
Increases armor penetration of sentry turrets you deploy by 1.
Cooling System

Cooling System
Engineer: Tier 3 1500 experience
Reduce heat build-up from damage, electrical explosions or hack attempts by 30% for all turrets.
Detonation

Detonation
Engineer: Tier 4 3000 experience
Whenever your turret overheats, it will cause an explosion that damages NPCs in an area.
Spin Cycle

Spin Cycle
Engineer: Tier 5 5000 experience
Your sentry turret can now rotate 360 degrees to acquire its targets.
Dual Sentries

Dual Sentries
Engineer: Tier 6 10000 experience

Targeted Fire

Targeted Fire
Engineer: Tier 7 10000 experience
Your turrets will switch targets to whichever enemy you mark manually, if it's within line of sight. If you mark multiple enemies, it will prioritize the last one you marked.

Tips[]

Sentries have 250 health, which is lowered by 2 each time it fires. Sentries will fire in 2 second bursts, each with roughly 14 bullets. After 9 complete bursts, the sentry will overheat.

Sentries have a range of 12 meters, and will disengage with a target if it moves beyond 13 meters away. Normal sentries can find any unit horizontally within 140° of the front of the sentry and 180° vertically.

Sentries are best when placed in areas with clear lines of sight over the area, as enemies might run for cover before the sentry has a chance to lock on. Unlike PAYDAY 2, sentries can be placed on moving surfaces and remain attached. If a heist has a moving objective, such as the armored truck on Road Rage for example, sentries can be placed on top and remain attached as the truck moves.
