Touch The Sky is a heist in PAYDAY 3, and is the last of the heists that were available at launch.
Mission Briefing[]
Description[]
We're going to infiltrate a penthouse owned by a man by the name of Mason Laurent, once a heavy hitter in the now-dissolved Murkywater PMC.
Somewhere in the penthouse, there's a copy of a digital encryption key we need. With this technology, we can secure our digital funds, making them completely untouchable.
Blaine Keegan's Contractor Dialogue[]
"Alright. I had some o' ma associates do a lil' diggin' on Mason Laurent. He's a rattlesnake, that fella. S'far as anyone can tell, he makes his home in this here penthouse. You can expect some darn tough security, given his background. Wouldn't be surprised if he had private guards on staff, buncha' custom security, hidden vaults, panic rooms...the whole nine yards. We got word the encryption keys you're after are stored on a small hard drive...probably locked upin a vault or some place. Remember: This 'Laurent' fella kept off everybody's radar for a long time. He's the cautious type, so keep yer wits about'cha. And good luck. Something tells me yer gonna need it."
Overview[]
The entire penthouse contains two locations: the entrance and the penthouse itself. Players start by the elevators, and a guard stands next to the entrance to Mason Laurent's penthouse to deny entry to unwanted visitors. The nearby stairs leading upwards contains a ventilation shaft that can be climbed into. The vent then splits off into several paths that drops the player onto the second floor of Mason's penthouse.
The penthouse has two floors: the first floor contains a large living room, where a meeting between Mason and his peers are taking place. It also has a kitchen, a potential spawn for the camera room, a laundry room with a chute (that can be used to secure loot with the Additional Secure Point favor), and another potential spawn for a small office containing a small red keycard. The second floor contains Mason's personal office accompanied by a safe room (that often spawns with large amounts of cash and cocaine loot) and a large balcony, with his bedroom just across the penthouse that contains a vault. The red keycard office room may also spawn on the second floor.
Objectives[]
Favors[]
- Vomiting Agent: A box containing four vomiting agents will be placed near the spawn.
- Window Cleaning Platform: The Payday gang will spawn near the penthouse's balcony instead of the main entrance.
- Additional Secure Point: A vent inside one of the rooms can be used to secure loot.
- Hidden Thermite: Thermite will spawn on the stairs leading to the upper floor vents.
Walkthrough[]
Stealth[]
Stealth on Touch The Sky proves to be a challenging experience requiring a great deal of patience, especially if done solo. A stealth heist of Touch The Sky is more easily completed if at least two players are present. One person must be masked up to enter the penthouse, meaning maskless-solo is not an option.
While the standard entry is through the ventilation shaft, players may enter through the front door if the guard next to the entrance is incapacitated. Once inside, locate the lock next to the Master Bedroom door and interact with it. The wi-fi hacking minigame will start, with three randomized zones for players to stand in. Regardless of difficulty, a total of three full and one partial wi-fi zones are needed to establish a connection for Shade.
Once inside the Master Bedroom, locate the entertainment center below the wall-mounted television, and interact with all highlighted books until one partially slides out and you hear a click. Then, go behind the bed and interact with the wooden panel in the wall. You will then be prompted to locate and enter the filing room.
The head of security—or, on higher difficulties, the Lead Guard—will have a phone on his person. You must hack his cell phone to gain the QR code needed to access the filing room. The Lead Guard will periodically enter the Master Bedroom and Mason Laurent's office once they are unlocked. It is often easiest to hack the Lead Guard's phone when he enters the Master Bedroom, as you can hide in the en suite bathroom while performing the hack.
Once you've obtained the QR code, head to the filing room (which may be upstairs or downstairs) and begin opening filing cabinets until you find the red keycard. With the red keycard, make your way to Mason Laurent's office and enter. On the side of Mason's office desk is a red button; press and hold it until a panel behind the desk opens, revealing a panic room with an iris scanner.
A poison spawn in one of the bathrooms within Mason Laurent's penthouse.
A poison spawn in the storage closet, near the kitchen.
If you have not already, grab the bottle of poison located in one of the four bathrooms or the storage room near the kitchen, and wait for a courier to enter the penthouse with a bottle of whiskey. If the courier is subdued before he places the alcohol, you will be unable to proceed with the step of poisoning Mason to separate him from the rest of the group (required on Hard difficulty and above). You may also retrieve the VIP Invitation from the courier, allowing an unmasked player free-roam access to the first floor of the penthouse. Once the courier enters the penthouse and places the alcohol, move behind the dry bar, poison the bottle, and ring the bell. A guest will stand up and serve Mason a drink; he will then become sick and head to the nearest bathroom. Here, Mason can be taken hostage and escorted up to his office, where he will use the iris scanner to open his panic room.
Inside the panic room are two piles of cash, three packages of cocaine, some loose cash, and codes written on a whiteboard. You may safely zip-tie Mason and place him next to the desk within the panic room to avoid guards spotting him. One of the four sets of numbers will correspond with the digits highlighted by blacklight at the vault keypad. With the correct code discovered, enter the vault in the Master Bedroom. Inside the vault are nine bags of jewelry, six stealable necklaces, two stealable bracelets, and a safe. Begin the 'Crack The Safe' minigame to reveal the SSD needed to complete the mission.
Return to Mason Laurent's office with the drive and place it on his desk, then begin the hack at his computer. The hack takes a while, so it is advised to wait until the Lead Guard has just left Mason's office before starting the process, especially on higher difficulties. When the hack is complete, collect the SSD and return to the hallway where you began the mission. Note that it is impossible to leave the penthouse except through the front door (or via the window cleaning platform if a favor is used). The front door will remain open after the courier enters the penthouse, and a lure nearby can be activated so that the front door guard is distracted for a completely silent getaway.

Variations[]
- The security room and the filing room containing the red keycard alternates between two specific locations on heist start. Both locations are always on the first and second floor of the penthouse.
- The red keycard will spawn in a different filing cabinet each time the heist is started.
- Poison can spawn in any of the four bathrooms, or potentially a storage closet near the kitchen on the first first floor.
Difficulty Changes/Modifiers[]
- If the Lead Guard modifier is active, a lead guard will spawn replacing the Head of Security (a guard wearing a black suit and sunglasses), carrying a phone that can be hacked for the QR code. He will patrol both floors of the penthouse, starting outside on the balcony and patrol through the first and second floor.

Trivia[]
- In the cutscene accompanying this heist, the leitmotif from the Crude Awakening heist's soundtrack can be briefly heard during Blaine Keegan's introduction.
- This is because Blaine Keegan was the contractor for Crude Awakening, thus referencing his previous role in PAYDAY 2.
- Concept art for this heist were made by Samat Khovtioonkij[1].
- By the Syntax Error heist, Mason's penthouse was put on sale due to the result of the Payday gang's successful heist. The sale was likely either because Mason himself sold off the penthouse or because he was killed during the events of Touch The Sky.
- Andrew Kang, the CEO of Scry Digital (the company the gang steals from in Syntax Error), has discussed buying the penthouse to throw parties in it, according to an in-game email.
- The penthouse reappears again in a teaser trailer showcasing First World Bank, being rented out by a reality television crew to film a show.
Bugs[]
- If the storage room containing the red keycard is opened during stealth, then the heist taken to loud, the option to use thermite on the door when using the Hidden Thermite favor is made available, even if the door is already opened.
- The "Spec Ops" achievement will not unlock on Solo Mode Beta.
