Description
SURPHAZE Art Gallery is a nesting ground for the young, modern, and resentfully rich. This week, they're hosting an exhibition with some very expensive paintings on display. Our contact is willing to pay serious money to get his hands on some of them. All we have to do is go in and steal them. The paintings are on loan from some of New York's wealthiest collectors. As a consequence, security is tight, and you'll need to override a number of safety measures.

Under The Surphaze is a heist in PAYDAY 3.

Mission Briefing[]

Beckett's Contractor Dialogue[]

"SURPHAZE Art Gallery is a nesting ground for the cultural, young, modern "in" crowd. Right now, they're hosting an exclusive exhibition showcasing a number of precious artworks on loan from some of New York's wealthiest connoisseurs. My client would loooove to get his hands on some of those paintings before they disappear back into private collection. He's willing to pay handsomely for the favor...and it all goes to you if you can pull this off. Minus a...small facilitation fee for myself, of course! Specifically, he wants Shooting Gallery Redux by Greg Jud, the original copy of the Fiji Mermaid by Uma Ladette, and the set of Pedro Picario's attempted suicide paintings. Remember to be careful. Some of these pieces are very fragile...especially the Fiji Mermaid! And security is tighter than a fat guy's belt at a short rib buffet! Shade says you can handle it...then I trust Shade! Maybe in time I'll trust you too!"

Heist Selection Screen[]

Overview[]

The gang finds a contact going by Beckett who has the gang steal from a wealthy art gallery for a large payload. Specifically, he wants 4 paintings within the gallery.

The art gallery is small; the first floor contains three galleries, all locked with QR codes. It also contains the Shanda Latrell painting needed for the secret True Connoisseur achievement, which cannot be looted without completing a series of hidden tasks. Beyond that, the first floor also contains a locker room, bathroom, and a cafe, all of which may spawn a QR code.

The second floor has four more gallery rooms and three important rooms: the manager's office, security room, and the server room. There is also an employee break room that is of no importance, though like with the first floor, all four non-gallery rooms may spawn a QR code needed to open the locked rooms.

A staircase connecting the first and second floor also leads to the rooftop, with two fire escapes on the sides of the buildings leading topside as well. The rooftop has a massive skylight in the middle, and smaller ones that can be breached open to access the second floor galleries without needing a QR code.

Objectives[]

Favors[]

  • Open Main Entrance: The main entrance to the art gallery will be unlocked.
  • Additional QR Key: An extra QR code will spawn near the main entrance.
  • Dumpster Secure Point: A dumpster near the gallery can be used to secure loot during stealth.
  • Faster Chopper: On loud, the helicopter will arrive faster.

Walkthrough[]

The way to beat this heist between stealth and loud are nearly identical save for the escape. Due to this, most of the advice shared here will detail ways to break into each of the gallery room.

Favors[]

It is highly recommended players choose the Additional QR Key favor as it spawns a QR code near the lobby. Although enough QR codes spawn throughout the heist to unlock all rooms, this particular favor shortens the need to search every area for a QR code. However, if a particularly saavy player is able to breach every second floor gallery room through the vents or the skylights, then this favor is not needed, as managing to unlock the second floor locked rooms without triggering the lasers will render the need to find all 7 QR codes unnecessary and the task of finding them much easier.

Breaking into the galleries - first floor[]

The only way to access the bottom floor rooms is with a QR code. Check the first floor bathroom and cafe, 2nd floor security room, manager's office employee break room and the server room for QR codes.

Breaking into the galleries - second floor[]

TBA

Variations[]

  • The security room, manager's office, server room, and employee break room on the second floor will always change locations.
  • The location of the Vicario paintings will change (it spawns very commonly in E3 and E6, though one may spawn in E5 instead).
  • The real Uma Ladette painting and the fake one will spawn in either E4 or E7.
  • The QR codes needed for the QR-locked doors randomize locations.
  • Bile's helicopter will either land near the left or right side of the rooftop.

Difficulty Changes/Modifiers[]

  • If the Lead Guard modifier is active, a lead guard will spawn and patrol both floors of the gallery. The lead guard is more thorough in his patrol routine, checking more rooms and may occasionally enter an unlocked room.

Achievements[]

Art Critic Art Critic

Trivia[]

  • It has been confirmed that the paintings in this heist were generated by AI algorithms.
  • The Subway Station outside the gallery is labeled "New Dock St. Station" and claims to be serviced by the A, C, 2 & 3 trains. While New Dock St. is a real street where St. Ann's Warehouse (the inspiration for the gallery and overall setting) is located, there is no train station that leads directly to it. The closest subway station to the Brooklyn Bridge is High St, which is about a 10 minute walk from the warehouse and is only serviced by the A & C trains (C not on late nights), not the 2 or 3.
  • The building and overall setting of the heist takes heavy inspiration from the St. Ann's Warehouse.
    • Shade makes reference to how SURPHAZE Art Gallery used to be an old tobacco warehouse. A reference to the real origins of St. Ann's Warehouse.

Bugs[]

  • (Unconfirmed) With two players, if one with the Menacing skill intimidates the guard, and another player takes the guard as a human shield just as he has finished placing his weapon down, then promptly throws the guard onto the floor for the player with the Menacing skill to intimidate the guard again, that guard's radio will not trigger.
